Ceropegia woodii, widely known as the String of Hearts or Rosary Vine, is a popular, trailing semi-succulent native to Southern Africa. Famous for its delicate, heart-shaped leaves and long, cascading vines, it is an ideal, low-maintenance houseplant for shelves and hanging baskets.

Key CharacteristicsAppearance: Features thin, wiry stems with dark green to silver, marbled, heart-shaped leaves. Stems can reach up to 3.5 to  meters in length.

Growth Habit: Produces small, bead-like aerial tubers along the stems, which can be used to propagate new plants.

Flowers: Blooms from summer to early autumn with unique, tubular, lantern-shaped flowers in pale pink and purple.

Varieties: Besides the standard species, the Variegated variety (pink, cream, and green leaves) and the String of Arrows (elongated, spade-shaped leaves) are highly sought after.

Care GuideLight: Thrives in bright, indirect sunlight. A few hours of gentle morning sun will bring out rich purple tones on the stems and pink hues on the leaves. Low light will cause sparse growth and pale, solid-green leaves.Watering: Treat it like a succulent. Allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings. When you do water, give it a thorough soak, ensuring water drains out. Reduce watering drastically in the winter when the plant goes dormant.

Soil & Pot: Use a highly porous, well-draining cactus and succulent mix (e.g., mixing potting soil with plenty of perlite or pumice). The plant prefers to be slightly root-bound, so do not repot too frequently.
