Vriesea splendens, commonly known as the flaming sword bromeliad, is a striking tropical epiphyte native to South America and the Caribbean. It features smooth, dark green arching leaves with bold reddish-brown zebra-like bands and a brilliant, flattened sword-shaped red flower spike that lasts for months.

Size: Grows 18 to 30 inches tall and 12 to 24 inches wide.

Foliage: Smooth-margined, spineless rosette with striking horizontal zebra stripes.

Bloom: A tall, vibrant red flattened flower bract producing small yellow tubular flowers.

Lifecycle: Individual rosettes live 3 to 4 years. The mother plant slowly dies after flowering, but produces offsets ("pups") at the base.Safety: Non-toxic to humans and pets (cats and dogs)

Light: Bright, indirect indoor light. Direct sun will burn the leaves.

Watering: Keep the central "cup" or tank filled with a small amount of fresh water, flushing and replacing it weekly to prevent rot. Water the potting mix sparingly, allowing the top inches to dry out heavily between waterings. Use filtered or distilled water if your tap water is hard.

Soil: Fast-draining orchid bark or a specialized bromeliad potting mix.Temperature & Humidity: Thrives in warm rooms between 62°F and 85°F with medium-to-high humidity and occasional misting
